Short answer: a pool bar Phuket visitors can actually walk into, without a hotel wristband, is rarer than it sounds. Most of the island's poolside bars sit inside resorts and are reserved for guests or sold as a day pass. Soho Pool Club at Boat Lagoon Marina runs an open one: no entry fee, no day pass, and the pool is free to use when you order something from the bar or kitchen.
Do you know why searching for a pool bar in Phuket turns up so many hotels and so few places you can simply turn up to? Yes — because almost every pool bar on the island is a hotel amenity first and a bar second. Walk the results and you will find the swim-up counter at a Patong resort, the beach-pool bar at a five-star in Nai Yang, the courtyard bar at a town hotel. All lovely. All, for the most part, gated behind a room key or a paid day pass.
This guide is about the other kind: a marina-side poolside bar that welcomes you as a customer rather than a guest list — what is behind the bar, when it opens, the one house rule, and how a pool bar Phuket locals use on a Tuesday afternoon differs from the resort version.
What a Pool Bar Phuket Search Actually Turns Up
Run the search yourself and the pattern is immediate: the poolside bars that rank are attached to accommodation — Splash at a Patong resort, Kolae at a hotel in Phuket Town, the beach-pool bar at a Nai Yang resort. They are genuinely good, and they are designed around people already staying there. Which is why a non-guest has to ask whether they are allowed in at all, and then what it costs before a single drink is poured.
Soho sits in a different category because it is not a hotel. It is a pool club and restaurant at
Boat Lagoon Marina in Koh Kaew, about fifteen minutes north of Phuket Town and a similar run from the airport. The pool, the bar and the kitchen are the business, not an amenity attached to one.

That last row is worth being straight about: Soho does not have a swim-up bar. If swimming to your drink is the specific thing you want, a resort with a swim-up counter is the right answer. What Soho has is a bar a few steps from the water, with loungers, shade and table service in between.
The One House Rule, Stated Plainly
There is no entry fee at Soho and no day pass for the pool. What there is instead is a single condition: the pool is free to use when you order something from the bar or the kitchen. A coffee counts. A fresh juice counts. A beer counts. What does not work is treating the pool as a public swimming pool and ordering nothing — that is the one thing the team will ask you about.
It is a fair trade and most people never notice it, because the reason to come is the drink and the lunch anyway. But it is worth stating in plain language, because "free pool" written without the condition has misled guests before. The honest version is:
no entry fee, no day pass, just order something.
What Is Actually Behind the Bar
Prices below are from the published 2026 menu and are quoted the way the menu quotes them: 7% VAT and a 10% service charge are added on top, which is what the
++ notation means. The full list lives on the
Soho menu page.
Cocktails run at 260 THB++ across most of the list — Mojito, Aperol Spritz, Margarita, Moscow Mule, Espresso Martini, Pina Colada, Mai Thai, and a set of mojito variations built on mango, passion fruit and pineapple. Two sit above that: the Long Island Iced Tea at 290 THB++ and the house signature, The Soho Club, at 300 THB++, which blends white, dark and coconut rum with lime and fresh coconut water.
Beer starts at 90 THB++ for Chang and Leo, 100 THB++ for Singha and Tiger, 120 THB++ for Asahi, Heineken and Kirin, and 280 THB++ for Guinness Draught Stout. Thatchers ciders are 250 THB++ and White Claw hard seltzer is 150 THB++.
Wine by the glass starts at 180 THB++ for the Bird's Block red, with Oxford Landing and the Gris Blanc rosé at 200 THB++ and Cold River Brut sparkling also at 200 THB++ a glass.
If you are not drinking alcohol the list is unusually long for a pool bar: six mocktails at 180 THB++, smoothies at 160–180 THB++, fresh juices at 120 THB++, a fresh coconut at 150 THB++, milkshakes at 170 THB++ and coffee at 100 THB++. That matters for families, and for anyone spending a long afternoon in the sun who does not want to spend all of it drinking.
Chef Ai's kitchen runs alongside the bar rather than behind it, so a drink can turn into lunch without moving: the Khao Soi Gai at 290 THB++ is the menu's best seller, the Soho Smash Burger is 420 THB++, and the Moo Krata pork BBQ set for two is 690 THB++ if you are settling in with company.
Friday Happy Hour, 5 PM to 7 PM
Every Friday from 5 to 7 PM the bar runs a fixed happy hour, and it is a permanent fixture rather than a seasonal promotion. Singha, Chang and Leo drop to 70 THB++. Birchgrove Birds Block white and red, and Cold River Brut sparkling, come down to 100 THB++ a glass — the sparkling is effectively half price. The Mojito and the Aperol Spritz drop to 180 THB++.
Only those two cocktails are discounted, not the whole 260 THB++ list, which is worth knowing before you order a round. There is a
longer piece on the Friday happy hour if you want the full breakdown.
One timely note:
Friday 23 October 2026 is Chulalongkorn Day, a Thai public holiday, which makes that particular happy hour the front end of a three-day weekend for anyone working in Thailand.
How a Day at the Pool Bar Actually Runs
The venue is open 8:00 AM to 10:00 PM daily. The shape of the day goes like this:
- Arrive from 8:00 AM. The venue opens early and breakfast is served from 8. The breakfast menu is published on Soho's Google Business Profile rather than on the website, so check there for what is on it that week.
- Claim a lounger. Poolside seating is first come, first served on an ordinary day; no booking is needed for walk-in dining.
- Order something. This is the step that unlocks the pool. Coffee at 8 AM counts as readily as a cocktail at 4 PM.
- Switch to the all-day menu from 11:00 AM. That is when the main kitchen list opens, and it runs through to 10 PM.
- Expect alcohol service from 11:00 AM. Thai licensing hours generally allow alcohol sales between 11:00 and midnight nationwide; the old afternoon ban was folded into that single window (TAT Newsroom, 29 May 2026). The legal drinking age in Thailand is 20.
- Swim, eat, repeat through the afternoon. Free Wi-Fi and free parking mean a lot of people stay longer than they planned.
- Catch sunset over the marina from about 5 PM — which is exactly when Friday's happy hour starts.
- Move upstairs if there is a game on. The sports lounge is one floor up and keeps going into the evening.
- Last orders before the 10:00 PM close.
Why the Marina Gets Busier From November
Phuket's high season runs November to April, and this year the ramp-up is sharper than usual at the airport end. Four new direct routes landed on the island within a fortnight: Virgin Atlantic from London on 18 October, Edelweiss Air from Zurich on 25 October, Kuwait Airways from Kuwait on 27 October and Belavia from Minsk on 29 October (
The Thaiger, 29 September 2026).
Those are Soho's source markets almost exactly — the UK, Europe, the Middle East and Russia, which was Phuket's single largest overseas market in the first eight months of 2026 with 661,876 visitors, per figures presented to the Phuket provincial administration on 28 September 2026 and reported in the same article. Total arrivals over that period were down 1.76% year on year, so the new routes are arriving into a market that needs them.
The practical consequence for a pool bar Phuket afternoon is simple: from November the marina fills up, especially at weekends and especially between 4 and 7 PM. If you want a lounger in the shade during high season, come before three. If you are planning around the weather rather than the crowds, Soho’s high season guide for Boat Lagoon covers what changes month by month.
What Else Is Within Twenty Steps of the Bar
The thing a hotel pool bar cannot usually offer is somewhere else to go without leaving.
Soho Wellness sits poolside: a five-person Clearlight infrared sauna and a Bison ice bath, sold as one combined session at 300 THB for a day, which includes both the sauna and the ice bath rather than one or the other. A cold plunge after three hours in the sun is a better idea than it sounds.
Upstairs,
the sports lounge carries live football, Formula 1 and rugby — useful at the moment, given how hard the Premier League is trending in Thai search this month. And inside the same complex,
SIMPRO Academy Phuket runs professional-grade racing and flight simulators on fixed-base rigs, which is the obvious move when the afternoon rain arrives.
Boat Lagoon is a working marina on the east coast of
Phuket province, so the view from the bar is boats being worked on rather than jet skis being hired.
Finding It, and Booking a Table
Soho Pool Club is at 23 Boat Lagoon Marina, Moo 2, Koh Kaeo, Ampur Mueang, Phuket 83000 — about fifteen minutes north of Phuket Town, and a similar run south from the airport. Parking is free and there is plenty of it.
For ordinary poolside dining you do not need to book — walk in, order, swim. For a group, a long table or a private event, the team would rather know in advance: call
+66 81 787 7702, email
sales@simbaseatrips.com, or use the form on the
contact page. No booking is confirmed until you have it in writing, which is deliberate.
Guest feedback runs consistently well on the pool-and-food combination. Google reviewer
Kallu P put it as plainly as anyone:
"A very good pool club with delicious food and a delightful atmosphere." The Google Business Profile showed 4.5 stars from 104 reviews when this was written on 19 October 2026.
A Place Where the Pool and the Bar Are the Same Place
Most of Phuket asks you to choose: a beach club with a cover charge, a hotel pool you need a room for, or a bar with no water in sight. The marina version is quieter than all three. Order a coffee at nine, swim at eleven, eat Khao Soi at one, sit in the sauna at four, and watch the light go down behind the boats with a Mojito at six — all in the same hundred metres, without buying a ticket to get in.
If that sounds like the kind of afternoon you have been trying to find, this is the pool bar Phuket version of a day off: open from 8 AM, every day. Come and order something.
