Soho Pool Club runs happy hour every Friday from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Boat Lagoon Marina in Koh Kaew, Phuket. Beers are 70 THB++, house white, house red and Cold River Brut sparkling are 100 THB++ a glass, and the Mojito and Aperol Spritz are 180 THB++. It is Friday only. The kitchen runs until 10:00 PM, parking is free, and the marina is about fifteen minutes north of Phuket Town.
Do you know why so many happy hour Phuket searches end in a disappointing evening? Yes — because almost all of them end in Patong. Type the phrase into Google from a hotel room here and you get beer-bucket listings from Bangla Road, a few beach bars at Kata, and rooftop lists that have not been updated since 2023. What you rarely get is somewhere to sit down at five o'clock on a Friday, drink something cold at a sensible price, eat properly, and still drive home.
This guide is about one of those places, and it is honest about what it is not. Soho is a pool club and restaurant at a working marina, not a beach bar and not a late-night venue. If you want a two-hour window with half-price sparkling wine and a view of the boats, read on.
What Happy Hour Means at Boat Lagoon, and What It Costs
Soho's happy hour is a permanent weekly fixture, not a seasonal promotion. Every Friday between 5:00 PM and 7:00 PM a short list of drinks drops in price — three beers, three wines by the glass, and exactly two cocktails. The rest of the drinks list stays at its normal price, and that is the part worth knowing before you arrive.
Here is the full comparison, drawn from the Soho happy hour poster supplied by management and confirmed by management on 24 August 2026 as
++ pricing — meaning 7% VAT and 10% service charge are added on top, exactly as they are on every other price at the venue.

The sparkling wine is the strongest line on that table: a glass of Cold River Brut at 100 THB++ is genuinely half price, and it carries the largest Friday saving of anything on the list. The beers carry the smallest, which is worth saying plainly rather than dressing up.
And two cocktails are discounted, only two. If your group arrives expecting the whole 260 THB cocktail list at 180 THB, someone will be disappointed at the till.
Why a 5 PM Start Works in Thailand Now
For years, a 5:00 PM happy hour in Thailand sat awkwardly against the country's alcohol-sales rules, which blocked retail sales between 2:00 PM and 5:00 PM. That restriction is gone. The Tourism Authority of Thailand's newsroom confirmed on 29 May 2026 that alcoholic beverages may generally be sold from 11:00 to 24:00, with the old afternoon ban folded into the regular permitted window.
In practice, a Friday afternoon at the marina no longer has a dead hour in the middle of it: you can order a drink at two, swim, eat, and roll straight into the discounted window at five. The Tourism Authority also notes that the drinking age is 20, which still applies — Soho's bar area is 20+ in line with Thai law.
It Is Friday Only — Check Before You Drive
This is the most common mistake, which is why it gets a section rather than a footnote. People search on a Saturday or a Sunday, find a Friday offer, and drive out anyway. Soho's happy hour runs on Friday. Not Saturday, not Sunday, and there is no weekday equivalent.
The other days are not closed, just not discounted. The pool club opens daily from 8:00 AM to 10:00 PM, breakfast is served from 8:00 AM — the breakfast menu is listed on Soho’s Google Business Profile — and the main all-day menu runs from 11:00 AM to 10:00 PM, seven days a week. The pool is free to use when you order something from the bar or the kitchen — no entry fee, no day pass. If the price is the reason you are coming, come on Friday.
What to Eat While You Drink
Chef Ai leads the Soho kitchen, building the menu around Thai favourites, Western dishes and lighter plates sourced from local farmers and fishermen. Several things on it suit a table sharing drinks rather than a sit-down dinner, and those are the ones to order between five and seven.
The Soho Platter at 480 THB is the obvious group order — crackers, cheeses, salami, olives and fruit, enough for three or four people picking at it over two rounds. Below that, Chicken Wings and Gai Tod Hat Yai street-style fried chicken are both 200 THB, Crispy Pork Belly, Calamari with Chili and Garlic and Spanish Gambas are each 250 THB, and Nachos Avocado is 300 THB. The vegetarian options in that range are Veggie Spring Rolls and Fresh Rice Paper Rolls at 180 THB, Bruschetta at 190 THB and Garlic Bread at 160 THB.
The full menu is available during happy hour if you would rather eat properly — the Khao Soi Gai at 290 THB is the dish reviewers mention most often. All of these are
++ prices, and the current list lives on the
Soho food menu page, because menus change and articles do not.
How to Plan a Friday Evening at the Marina
Two hours sounds generous until forty minutes go on parking, ordering and deciding where to sit. This is the order that works:
- Arrive by 4:40 PM so you are seated and have a drinks order in before the window opens.
- Park on site — parking at Boat Lagoon Marina is free and there is usually plenty of space, even on a Friday.
- Pick your seat first: poolside deck for the light on the water, the bar counter if your group is still arriving, or the air-conditioned Andaman Dining Room if the afternoon has been humid.
- Order the Cold River Brut first if sparkling appeals — it is the half-price item and the one most worth drinking inside the window.
- Put one sharing plate on the table immediately so the kitchen is working while you talk.
- Order your second round before 7:00 PM, not after — the discount applies to what is ordered within the window.
- Move upstairs to the Sports Club afterwards if there is a match on, or stay at the table and order dinner from the full menu.
- Settle up by 10:00 PM, when the venue closes.
Upstairs After Seven: Live Sport at Soho Sports Club
When the window closes at seven, the natural next move is one floor up. The
Soho Sports Club is the upstairs clubhouse: two large screens, bar counter seating, lounge chairs, beer and wine poured at the upstairs bar, and signature cocktails mixed downstairs and brought to your seat.
The screens carry AFL, Formula 1, rugby and football as scheduled, and during headline matches the team runs Predict & Win games on the outcome. Football is the draw more often than not: Premier League fixtures and the league table were among Thailand's fastest-rising Google searches in the week to 12 October 2026. If live sport is the real reason you are coming, the
marina-side guide to watching live sport in Phuket covers the screens, timings and seating.
Getting There From Phuket Town, Patong and the Airport
Boat Lagoon Marina sits in Koh Kaew on the island's east coast, roughly fifteen minutes north of Phuket Town by car and about thirty minutes south of Phuket International Airport. From Patong, allow forty to fifty minutes over Patong Hill, and more on a Friday evening.
That drive is the honest trade-off, and most happy hour Phuket roundups never mention it. If you are staying in Patong and the only thing you want is a discounted beer, the bar at the end of your street wins on travel time every time. What the drive buys is a marina rather than a beach road: yachts, water, a pool, a kitchen that is properly open, and somewhere you can hear the person opposite you. The
honest guide to Phuket's pool clubs and beach bars sets the two side by side, and the
guide to eating near Boat Lagoon covers what else is within a few minutes if Soho is full.
Who Is Arriving This Month, and What It Means for Happy Hour Phuket Searches
Mid-October is the hinge of the Phuket year, and this one has a specific shape. Four new direct routes begin inside a fortnight: Virgin Atlantic from London on 18 October, Edelweiss Air from Zurich on 25 October, Kuwait Airways from Kuwait on 27 October and Belavia from Minsk on 29 October, all reported by The Thaiger on 29 September 2026.
Two of those matter here. British and Middle Eastern visitors tend to look for an early-evening drinks offer rather than a late one, and both now have a direct route landing weeks before high season proper. The United Kingdom already sent 152,866 visitors to Phuket between January and August 2026 and Australia 167,345, per Tourism Authority of Thailand figures presented to the provincial administration on 28 September 2026 and reported by The Thaiger. Over those eight months the island took 9,200,166 visitors in all, down 1.76% year on year.
The practical consequence: Friday evenings at the marina get busier from the end of this month. If you are coming with six or more people in November, December or over New Year, book rather than walk in. The
high season guide covers what else changes at Boat Lagoon between November and April.
Before or After: Soho Wellness and SIMPRO
Two other things sit inside the same complex, and both pair naturally with a Friday that starts earlier than five.
Soho Wellness is the poolside recovery zone: a 5-person Clearlight Infrared Sauna and a Bison Ice Bath. A session is 300 THB, and that single price covers the sauna and the ice bath together as one combined session — there is no sauna-only or ice-bath-only rate. A family session for two adults and two children is 800 THB, and memberships start at 2,500 THB a month. What contrast therapy reliably delivers is muscle and joint relief, real relaxation and often better sleep the same night. It does not detoxify you and it does not boost immunity, whatever the wellness internet says this month.
SIMPRO Academy Phuket occupies the other end of the complex, with racing and flight rigs built around MOZA direct-drive wheels, a Thrustmaster HOTAS Warthog setup and F5 Simulation Seats. The rigs are fixed-base, not motion platforms, and a session does not count toward a pilot licence — but an hour in one before a drink beats another hour by the pool. Sessions are 1,300 THB for 60 minutes, booked through
SIMPRO Academy Phuket on its own site and its own number, +66 62 962 2822.
What Soho's Happy Hour Is Not
It is not all week — Friday only. It is not an open bar or a package; you order and pay per drink. It is not the full cocktail list; two cocktails are included. It is not a late-night venue; the whole place closes at 10:00 PM, roughly when Bangla Road is warming up. And it is not a beach bar — Soho sits on a marina in Koh Kaew, about as far in character from Patong's main strip as the island gets while still being on it.
Phuket is large enough to hold both.
What it is: two hours on a Friday where the sparkling wine is half price, the kitchen is fully open, the parking is free, and the loudest thing you hear is the table next to you. Kallu P, reviewing on Google, put it more briefly:
"A very good pool club with delicious food and a delightful atmosphere."
A Place Where Friday Finishes Slowly
A good happy hour Phuket evening is not really about the discount. It is about somewhere your Friday happens to land — a marina twenty minutes from town, a two-hour window that starts when the light goes gold on the water, and a kitchen that keeps going long after the price goes back up.
Friday, 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, at
Soho Pool Club, 23 Boat Lagoon Marina, Koh Kaew, Phuket. Walk-ins are fine for a small table. For six or more, or for anything you want a particular spot for,
make a reservation on +66 81 787 7702 or at sales@simbaseatrips.com, and the team will confirm it in writing.
