Phuket high season runs from November to April. It is the island’s dry, breezy stretch — northeast monsoon, calm Andaman water, blue skies most days. At Boat Lagoon Marina it means fuller car parks, busier boat departures, hotter afternoons and a pool deck that fills up by midday. The venue itself does not change. What changes is how early you should arrive.
Do you know the one thing almost every first-time visitor gets wrong about Phuket high season? Yes — they assume “high season” means everywhere on the island is equally packed. It does not. Patong and Kata absorb the crowds. Twelve kilometres north, at Boat Lagoon Marina in Koh Kaew, a November Tuesday still feels like a slow Tuesday. This guide covers what actually shifts between November and April, what stays exactly the same, and how to plan a day around it.
The dates people quote vary because two different things are being measured: the weather and the tourist numbers.
The weather turns first. Phuket Province sits on the Andaman side of southern Thailand, where the southwest monsoon brings rain from roughly May to October and the northeast monsoon brings dry air from November to April. The rain tails off through late October, and by mid-November the sea has flattened out.
The crowds follow about two weeks behind. Arrivals build through November, spike over Christmas and New Year, stay heavy through January and February, then thin across April once Songkran is over. Peak-of-the-peak is roughly 20 December to 10 January. For dry weather without December pricing, the smart windows are the second half of November and the whole of March.
For context on demand: the Tourism Authority of Thailand launched its “Healing Journey Thailand” campaign in January 2026 around the line “Healing is the New Luxury”, and reported over 14 million international arrivals between January and May 2026 against a 30-million target for the year. This season is not getting quieter.
We have written a companion guide to the May-to-October green season, and the honest answer is that both work — they suit different trips. The side-by-side:
| What you’re comparing | High season (Nov–Apr) | Green season (May–Oct) |
|---|---|---|
| Weather | Dry, breezy, blue skies most days | Warm with heavy short showers, often clearing by afternoon |
| Sea conditions | Calm Andaman water; boat tours run reliably | Choppier; some island trips cancelled at short notice |
| Afternoon heat | Hotter and drier — shade matters more | Humid but frequently cooler after rain |
| Crowds at Patong / Kata | Heavy, especially late December | Noticeably lighter |
| Crowds at Boat Lagoon Marina | Busier weekends and holidays; weekdays still calm | Quiet almost throughout |
| Soho pool access | Free — but loungers go early on weekends | Free — usually a lounger free all day |
| Reservations needed | Yes for groups, events and game days | Rarely needed outside events |
| Soho opening hours | 8 AM – 10 PM daily, kitchen 11 AM – 10 PM | Identical — no seasonal change |
| Best for | Island-hopping, boat tours, dependable beach days | Slower trips, wellness, better value, fewer people |
If your trip depends on boats — Phi Phi, Phang Nga, Coral Island — these months are the safer bet, and that is the honest reason most people choose them. If your trip is about eating well, swimming, recovering and not queueing, the green season quietly wins.
Expect daytime highs in the low-to-mid thirties Celsius and very little rain. The trade-off nobody mentions is that dry-season sun at 1 PM is harder work than wet-season sun — midday is the part of the day that needs planning, not the evening.
That is where a marina venue behaves differently from a beach club. The pool deck sits behind the boats with shade structures, the Andaman Dining Room is fully air-conditioned, and the upstairs Clubhouse is out of direct sun. You can move indoors at 1 PM and back outside at 4 PM without leaving. On a beach, your only shade is a rented umbrella.

Boat Lagoon Marina is a working marina first, and boat traffic rises sharply from November — this is the departure base for Simba Sea Trips and Two Sea Tour, and calm seas mean tours actually run. Practically:
Busier: 7–9 AM as tours depart; the 1 PM window as boats return; Friday evenings; any weekend with a major sports fixture on. Not busier: weekday mid-mornings, weekday late afternoons, and reliably the hour after 8 PM, once the day-trip crowd has gone.
Parking stays free and there is plenty of it — the biggest practical difference between Boat Lagoon and anywhere on the west coast in February. Wi-Fi is free too, which matters if you are working part of your trip.

The order that works best between November and April, built around the heat rather than against it:
Prices marked ++ have 7% VAT and 10% service charge added. The full 2026 list is in the Soho Menu 2026 PDF.

The menu does not change seasonally — what changes is what sells. From November to April the Thai side moves fastest with visitors: Tom Yum Kung (230 THB++), Pad Kra Pao (270 THB++), the Khao Soi Gai. Chef Ai sources from local farmers and fishermen, so the produce follows what is good that week, not the tourist calendar.
For groups, the Moo Krata Pork BBQ Set for 2 (690 THB++) is the one to book ahead in December — it is a communal grill-at-the-table format that takes time, and the tables suited to it go first in peak weeks. There is a proper kids’ menu from 150 THB++, which matters in a season full of family trips. The full Soho food menu is online.

Contrast therapy is our most counter-intuitive recommendation for these months, and the most requested once people try it. The Clearlight five-person infrared sauna and the Bison ice baths sit poolside, and a 300 THB day pass covers the sauna, the ice baths, the lounge, herbal tea and mineral water — plus full pool club access.
The sequence is sauna for 10–15 minutes, rinse, ice bath for one to three minutes, then rest in the lounge, repeated as you like. What it does: muscle and joint relief, increased circulation while you are in the heat, reduced soreness after exercise, sharp alertness after the cold, and for most people better sleep the same night. What it does not do: detoxify anything. Sweat is water and salts; the liver and kidneys handle waste. We would rather say that plainly than repeat the myth. Day passes and memberships are on the Soho Wellness page.

These months line up with the northern-hemisphere sports calendar, which is why the upstairs Clubhouse is at its busiest. Formula 1 starts in March, the Six Nations lands in February and March, football is mid-season throughout, and AFL pre-season begins in February. Add Predict & Win on headline matches and game days become the busiest bookings of the week — worth a call ahead. Details on the Soho Sports Club page.
If it rains — and it does occasionally, even in January — the simulators are the indoor fallback. SIMPRO Academy sits inside the complex with race and flight rigs, and food comes to you at the rig from the Soho kitchen. Booking is on the SIMPRO Academy Phuket site.

Walk-in dining is fine most of the time, even in February. Reserve for groups of six or more, anything in the Andaman Dining Room, private events, Moo Krata in peak weeks, and any major sports fixture. Christmas week and New Year’s Eve book earliest.
Nothing is confirmed until you have written confirmation from the team — a verbal yes is not a booking. Call +66 81 787 7702, email info@simbaseatrips.com, or use the form on the contact page. Dining reservations can be cancelled up to 24 hours ahead for a full refund of any deposit.
Nolan White put the best high-season advice in a Google review: “Amazing club! Staff were really friendly… the food was incredible and the club was a great find as after lunch we enjoyed the swimming pool until evening.” That “until evening” is the part worth copying — most visitors leave at 3 PM and miss the best hours.
Phuket high season runs from November to April. The northeast monsoon brings dry, breezy weather and calm Andaman seas across those six months. Peak-of-the-peak is roughly 20 December to 10 January, when both crowds and prices are at their highest.
For reliable weather and boat tours, November to April. For value and fewer people, May to October. The two best-value windows inside high season are the second half of November and the whole of March — dry weather without December pricing.
Roughly May to October, driven by the southwest monsoon. Rain typically arrives as heavy short showers rather than all-day drizzle, and often clears by late afternoon. It is also called the green season or low season.
High season (November–April) is dry with calm seas, more visitors and higher prices. Low or green season (May–October) is wetter with choppier water, far fewer people and better rates. Soho Pool Club’s opening hours, free pool and menu prices are identical in both.
Parts of it. Patong, Kata and Karon get genuinely busy from December to February. Boat Lagoon Marina in Koh Kaew, about twelve kilometres north of Phuket Town, stays noticeably calmer — weekends and holidays fill up, weekdays generally do not.
Hotel and flight prices rise sharply, especially over Christmas and New Year. Restaurant and activity pricing mostly does not. Soho’s 2026 menu prices, the free pool and the 300 THB Soho Wellness day pass are the same year-round.
Yes. The pool is free to use all year, including high season — you simply order from the menu while you are there. The 300 THB charge is the Soho Wellness day pass for the infrared sauna and ice baths, not the pool. Loungers are first-come on busy weekends, so arriving before 9 AM helps.
Not for regular walk-in dining. Do reserve for groups of six or more, the Andaman Dining Room, private events, Moo Krata in peak weeks, and major sports fixtures. Call +66 81 787 7702 or email info@simbaseatrips.com — a booking is confirmed only once you have written confirmation.
Phuket high season is worth planning for, not worth being intimidated by. The island is busier from November to April, but “busier” is concentrated in a few square kilometres of west-coast beachfront. The marina keeps its own pace: free parking, a free pool, Chef Ai’s kitchen, a sauna and an ice bath for the hottest hour of the day.
Staying in Phuket Town or near the airport? We have a separate guide to swimming at Boat Lagoon rather than the beach. Otherwise: come early, eat well, use the shade, stay for sunset.
Open daily 8 AM – 10 PM, kitchen 11 AM – 10 PM. 23 Boat Lagoon Marina, Koh Kaeo, Mueang Phuket. Make a reservation on +66 81 787 7702 or info@simbaseatrips.com.
