Breakfast in Phuket usually means one of two things: a hotel buffet you need a room key or a paid entry to reach, or a Thai roti stall in Phuket Town that has packed up by midday. Soho Pool Club is a third option — a la carte breakfast from 8 AM beside the pool at Boat Lagoon Marina, open to anyone who walks in, with the full all-day menu starting at 11 AM.
Do you know why so many visitors end up eating the same hotel buffet every morning of their trip? Yes — because almost every published list of where to eat breakfast in Phuket is a list of hotel restaurants, and the ones that are not are street-food stalls that open at dawn and are gone before you have finished your first coffee. Neither suits someone who wants a slow morning, a proper flat white and somewhere to sit afterwards.
This guide is written from the marina side of the island, at Boat Lagoon in Koh Kaew: what the morning options actually are, what Soho serves and what it costs, and where to go instead if you want something we do not do.
Why Breakfast in Phuket Is Harder Than It Should Be
Phuket has an enormous number of places to eat and a surprisingly thin middle ground at breakfast time. Search the term and you will get the same three shapes of answer back.
The first is the resort restaurant. Tripadvisor's own ranking of breakfast restaurants on the island is led by hotel venues — JW Cafe and Kantok at Burasari among them. These are often excellent, but the price is usually folded into a room rate, and a non-guest rate is set by each hotel individually. If you are not staying there, you are buying your way into someone else's dining room.
The second is the Thai morning stall. This is the real thing and it is worth doing at least once. The MICHELIN Guide has written about Phuket's Thai-Muslim roti tradition, naming Roti Chaofa as a shop that has been serving flaky roti with curry for more than 35 years (MICHELIN Guide, 2023). Phuket Town's kanom jeen and roti shops open very early and close around lunchtime, so they reward people who are already awake and already in town.
The third is the Old Town cafe — charming, genuinely good, and about 25 minutes from Boat Lagoon in the wrong direction if your day starts at the marina.
What is missing from all three is the option a lot of people actually want on holiday: sit down at eight, order eggs properly cooked, drink coffee someone made with a machine, and then not have to leave.
The Three Kinds of Phuket Breakfast, Compared
Here is the honest shape of the choice. Prices for other venues are deliberately left blank, because they are set by each business and change without notice — check with them directly rather than trusting a list.

What Soho Serves for Breakfast, and What It Costs
Every price below is read from the published
Soho Pool Club menu on 26 October 2026. All prices are quoted
++, which means 7% VAT and a 10% service charge are added on top — that is stated on the menu page itself, and it applies to everything at Soho, not just breakfast.
- Soho Breakfast — 290 THB++: sourdough topped with two poached eggs, bacon, cheese and avocado.
- English Breakfast — 320 THB++: two eggs, bacon, sausages, baked beans, grilled tomato, mushrooms and toasted sourdough.
- Eggs Benedict — 290 THB++: poached eggs and ham on toasted sourdough, hollandaise, with a side salad.
- Avocado Toast with Poached Eggs — 280 THB++: smashed avocado, two poached eggs, cherry tomatoes, fresh greens.
- Bacon Pancakes with Maple Syrup — 280 THB++: fluffy pancakes, crispy bacon, butter, maple syrup.
- Healthy Chicken and Avocado Wrap — 250 THB++: grilled chicken, avocado, egg and vegetables in a soft tortilla.
There is also a DIY section for people who want to build their own plate or add to one: eggs x 2 at 30 THB, grilled tomato 30 THB, cheese 40 THB, hash brown 40 THB, avocado 60 THB, bacon 60 THB, jam and butter 60 THB, sourdough 70 THB. Coffee is 100 THB for an americano, cappuccino, latte, flat white, macchiato, espresso or mocha, and 110 THB for an iced coffee.
Chef Ai runs the kitchen, and the breakfast list is deliberately short. It is not a buffet and it is not trying to be one. Everything is cooked to order, which is slower than a hot counter and better than one.
Why 8 AM Changed What Soho Is For
For most of its life Soho was an afternoon and evening place: lunch, a swim, a drink as the light went off the water. The kitchen now opens at 8 AM for breakfast, and the full all-day menu starts at 11 AM. That single change turned the venue into somewhere you can begin a day rather than only finish one.
It matters more than it sounds. Boat Lagoon is a working marina in Koh Kaew, about ten minutes from Phuket Town and roughly twenty from the airport. A lot of people are already up and moving here at eight — crews, long-stay residents, remote workers and anyone with a boat to catch — and until recently there was nowhere on this side of the marina to sit down and eat properly at that hour.
The pool is open while you eat. It is free to use when you order something from the kitchen or the bar — there is no entry fee, no day pass and no wristband, but you do need to order. A coffee counts.
A Slow Morning at Boat Lagoon, Step by Step
- Arrive any time from 8 AM. Parking is free and there is plenty of it, so you do not need to plan around it.
- Take a table on the deck rather than inside — the marina is at its best before the heat arrives, usually before 10 AM.
- Order coffee first and food second. Everything is cooked to order, so the coffee arriving early is the point.
- Eat, then swim. The pool is open and it is quiet at that hour, which is not true of it at three in the afternoon.
- If you want the sauna and ice bath, book a Soho Wellness session for mid-morning rather than straight after eating.
- Stay on for the all-day menu once it opens at 11 AM, or leave — nobody will rush you either way.
- If you are catching a boat, allow fifteen minutes to walk round to the marina office.
Breakfast Before a Boat: the Marina's Early Departures
Boat Lagoon is the departure base for Simba Sea Trips and Two Sea Tour, and the island-hopping boats leave early. If your day starts with a sunrise departure, eating at the marina rather than at your hotel saves you a transfer and a decision at six in the morning.
It works in the other direction too. Several of those tours return to Soho for the included meal, so the place people leave from at eight is the one they come back to in the afternoon — same deck, different light. That round trip is most of why Boat Lagoon works as a hub rather than a car park with boats in it.
Breakfast in Phuket Away From Boat Lagoon
We are not going to pretend Soho is the only sensible answer, and some mornings it is not the right one.
If what you want is the island's own breakfast, go to Phuket Town. The roti shops and kanom jeen stalls there are the genuine article, they open early, and they are inexpensive in a way a marina restaurant is not. Check opening hours before you set out, because most close around midday and some close one day a week.
If you want a buffet with thirty things on it, book a hotel breakfast. That is a format Soho does not do at all, and a short a la carte list is no substitute for it if volume is what you are after.
And if you are staying near Boat Lagoon and want somewhere different for dinner later, our guide to
restaurants in Koh Kaew covers the neighbourhood properly, including places that are not ours.
What Changes From November
Phuket's high season runs from November to April, and the turn is sharp. Mornings get clearer and drier, the marina gets busier, and the island's flight schedule thickens: four new direct routes landed in the fortnight from 18 to 29 October alone — Virgin Atlantic from London, Edelweiss from Zurich, Kuwait Airways from Kuwait and Belavia from Minsk, as reported by The Thaiger on 29 September 2026.
Practically, that means two things for an early meal. Tables on the deck fill faster from late morning onwards, so 8 to 9:30 is the comfortable window. And boats run more often, so the early-departure crowd is larger. Our
Phuket high season guide goes through the rest of what shifts at the marina.
One date worth knowing: Loy Krathong falls on Tuesday 24 November 2026, and Phuket's largest local gathering is at Sapan Hin in Phuket Town, about fifteen minutes from Boat Lagoon. An evening festival, not a morning one — but worth planning a day around.
Getting to Boat Lagoon for Breakfast
Soho sits at 23 Boat Lagoon Marina, Koh Kaew, on the east side of
Phuket province — not on a beach, which is exactly why the mornings here are calm. From Phuket Town it is about ten minutes by car. From Phuket International Airport it is around twenty to twenty-five minutes, which makes it a realistic first stop for an early arrival; our
guide to things to do near Phuket airport has more on that. From Patong, allow forty minutes or more.
Breakfast does not need a reservation. Larger groups, private dining in the Andaman Dining Room, and events are a different matter — for those,
get in touch on +66 81 787 7702 or at sales@simbaseatrips.com, and remember that nothing is confirmed until you have it in writing from the team.
What Guests Say About the Morning
Nolan White, writing on Google, put it plainly:
"Amazing club! Staff were really friendly... the food was incredible and the club was a great find as after lunch we enjoyed the swimming pool until evening." That was written about an afternoon, but it describes exactly what an early start gives you — a meal, and then somewhere to stay put. A hotel breakfast ends when the hot counter is cleared away; a marina breakfast ends when you decide it does.
A Place Where the Morning Doesn't Rush You
Breakfast in Phuket is one of those things that looks solved until you try to do it on your own terms. Soho's answer is a short cooked-to-order list from 8 AM, a pool you can use once you have ordered something, free parking, and nobody standing over the table. You can see the full list on the
Soho menu, or read more about the venue on the
Soho Pool Club homepage.
Come at eight, take the deck, order the coffee first. Boat Lagoon Marina, Koh Kaew — open daily, 8 AM to 10 PM.
